| 398 | EDWARD HENRY HURDLE (1821 - 1857) 'An panoramic shipping scene on the River Exe, below Topsham', oil on canvas, signed with initials (on the bow of one of the boats), 46cm x 70cm. * Edward Henry Hurdle lived and painted at Exedene, Topsham, where he executed both fine oils and watercolours, nearly all of the River Exe in the Topsham area. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1851 and 1855 and his talents would have placed him as one of the great 19th Century landscape artists, if he had not died of consumption at such an early age.
