Moore, the dry card compass in a gimballed bowl, with domed cover, circular observation window and lamp to one side, manufacturer's plate to the top, also plaque L & NWR Duchess of Sutherland 1869 - 1909, on a rectangular mahogany plinth, 26cm high. * The Duchess of Sutherland was operated by London and North Western Railway from Holyhead to Dublin. In 1875, she collided with the Edith which sank, together with two crew members. £150-200

192 CAPTAIN GEORGE FREDERICK STEVENS-GUILLE D.S.O, O.B.E, R.N A Collection of Regulation Royal Navy Uniform to include a Bicorn hat with single bullion loop in tin trunk mark "GF Stevens-Guille RN" a pair of cased epaullettes, various belts slings and sword frogs, overcoats, dress and service uniform, including peaked caps and white pith helmet also a collection of ribbon bars and miscellaneous buttons etc. *Captain Stevens-Guille won his first D.S.O.,for services on Escort Group in 1939 and subsequently a bar for his command of the Destroyer H.M.S.Codington at Dunkirk where amongst the 500 troops embarked was a Major B. 199 A LATE 18TH CENTURY WHITEMETAL HILTED SHORT SWORD the hollow triangular section blade over cast hilt with pierced and chased Naval and Marine trophies and borders with double shell guard and quillions, quillion block and knuckleguard, globular pommel with button finial, silver ribbon and wire bound grip, the brown leather scabbard with nautical trophy decorated white metal mount, 82cm blade length. * The sword retains its original scabbard in two incomplete sections, both of which are rusted to the blade. No attempt has been made to remove the scabbard in order to maintain its integrity. This will require professional removal. * Small swords of this type were favoured by Naval officers. See Commander W. E. May & P. G. W. Annis. Swords for sea service 1970 pp 12-19. £800-1200

A WORLD WAR II KRIEGSMARINE U BOAT (U619) BULKHEAD CLOCK the silvered dial with Arabic numerals with eagle, swaskika over an M and numbered '19306' over N, within a circular brass case with locking bezel, on a mahogany plinth, together with a key, 25cm overall diameter. * U619 was a type VII E vessel launched in April 1942. As part of the III U flotille she was based at La Pallice and La Rochelle and commanded by Eric Von Stronbeck. According to official records U619 was depth charged by R. N. Destroyer Viscount in the North Atlantic 14th/15th October 1942. Sources from Devonport Royal Naval Dockyard indicate that the clock was removed from her after the war whilst in Devonport Dockyard. £1500-2500
